Recipient Rights
All employees must receive face-to-face, Basic Rights Training from the SHW Office of Recipient Rights before they can work with people receiving services through the public mental health system. This training is required to be completed within the first 30 days of the employee’s hire date. Information provided covers the essential rights of recipients receiving services, including abuse and neglect, confidentiality, informed consent, respect and dignity, restraint, and incident-report writing.
Recipient Rights training is due initially, within 30 days of hire, and annually thereafter.
Classes are offered through SHW monthly.
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) Full & Update
Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) training is a SHW required course and useful for all staff who work directly with consumers. This course teaches staff how to intervene in crisis situations, staff de-escalation techniques as well as restrictive and nonrestrictive interventions. Participants will learn decision-making skills to match the level of the response to the risk of the crisis, focusing on the least-restrictive response to ensure the Care, Welfare, Safety, and Security℠ of those in your care.
CPI is required initially when hired, then-biannually.
Classes are offered through SHW monthly.
CPR and First Aid
J&M Education LLC, professional trainers for the American Heart Association, has a long history of training SHW staff.
If you are interested in in CPR/AED, First Aid, and Basic Life Support, ACLS and PALS, please contact J&M Education LLC directly. Fees vary per training.
